All truth resides in
the spontaneity of nature.
Nature reveals her secrets by illuminating
the smallest details with unexpected light.
Although nature shows us color through light,
I, as a painter, must show light through color.
Nature is my muse. She is paradoxical, full
of surprises, revealing extraordinary insights.
As I ask myself, "What color is the light?" usually
the answer comes in response to something
felt rather than thought.
I begin to compose my work by trusting my
instincts in the stroke, the color and the line.
My goal is to merge with the creative process
and allow the spontaneous rendering to discover
the unknown. By keeping my mind open to all
possibility of what the work will be, I enter
into a silent dialogue with the medium and
creative force to become receptive to its counsel.
